HBLPSL – A reason to believe in PAKISTAN 2016 – 2025

The HBL Pakistan Super League (HBLPSL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league founded in Pakistan in 2015. HBL has sponsored the league since its inception, which has been instrumental in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan and increasing public engagement.

With the successful completion of nine seasons, HBLPSL has cemented its position as Pakistan’s biggest sporting platform.

In 2016, Anwar Ali of Quetta Gladiators bowled the first ball at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, kicking off the history-making HBLPSL season one.

In 2017, with HBLPSL, international cricket finally returned to Pakistan after nearly a decade of absence. The final of HBLPSL season two was played in Lahore, in front of a packed stadium.

2018 was a milestone for HBLPSL as the 6th team, the Multan Sultans, entered the tournament.

Karachi hosted HBLPSL for the first time in 2019. The last eight matches of HBLPSL, including the final, were played in Karachi.

The fifth season of HBLPSL moved to Pakistan, with all 34 matches played across four cities; Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the matches, and the later part of the season was played in lockdown conditions in November.

COVID-19 may have kept fans at home, but it couldn't dim their passion for the game. Living rooms were transformed into stadiums, truly turning this tournament ‘جہاں فینز وہاں اسٹیڈیم’

With a renewed four-year commitment HBL’s partnership with PSL would complete its decade long association in 204. HBLPSL season ten is proof that Pakistan possesses the passion, the commitment and the skill to hold events of international standards.

As the biggest sporting event in the country, HBLPSL has played a key role in re-igniting the passion for cricket in the nation. It not only provides a platform to young cricketers to be a part of the international cricket circle but also brings international cricketers to Pakistan. This has led to an unprecedented talent pipeline for Pakistan cricket and has played an instrumental role in discovering players like Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan, Shahnawaz Dahani, and many more.

HBL takes pride in promoting HBLPSL, underscoring the Bank’s commitment to promoting cricket and community engagement. The contribution of HBLPSL goes beyond cricket. The League is now an ambassador for the country, highlighting to the world that Pakistan is open for business – a vibrant and welcoming place, full of people who love the game of cricket.
