Google Pay FAQ

Your Questions Answered

Learn about setup, compatibility, security, and how to make payments with your HBL Card

Google Pay is the fast, safe, and easy way to pay using your Android phone. Just add your card to Google Wallet to make contactless payments in stores, in apps, and online, everywhere Google Pay is accepted.

There are no additional fees from HBL for adding your card to Google Wallet and making contactless payments with Google Pay. Standard charges (if any) related to your HBL account or card still apply. Transactions themselves are processed with the same terms as your physical HBL card.

  1. Unlock your phone.
  2. Hold it near the contactless payment terminal.
  3. Wait for the confirmation checkmark or vibration, and you’re done!

You can tap to pay anywhere you see the contactless or Google Pay symbols.

Security and privacy are built into every part of Google Pay. Your actual card details are never shared with the merchant—Google Pay uses a virtual account number (token) to process your transaction. Additionally, your phone’s security features (e.g., screen lock or biometrics) help ensure only you can authorize purchases.

If your device is lost or stolen, you can use Android’s “Find My Device” feature to remotely lock or erase the data on your phone. This protects your card information stored in Google Wallet. You can also call HBL PhoneBanking immediately to block your card if needed.

No. Your rewards, loyalty points, or cashback apply just as they would with your physical HBL card. You’ll continue to earn the same benefits on every eligible purchase made through Google Pay.

Yes, you can add multiple HBL credit or debit cards to Google Wallet. Simply follow the “Add to Wallet” steps for each card. You can choose a default card anytime.

All your transactions appear on your HBL account statements just like purchases made with your physical card. Additionally, the Google Wallet app displays recent payment activity for each added card.

  • Lost or Stolen Card: Once you report your card lost/stolen and receive a new HBL card, you must add this new card to Google Wallet. The old card is no longer valid, so you should remove it from your Google Wallet app.
  • Damaged Card: If you requested a replacement due to damage, follow the same steps—remove the old card from Google Wallet and add the new card once you receive it.
  • If your card number or expiry date changes in any way, you’ll need to remove the expired card from Google Wallet and add the renewed card.
  • If the renewal process keeps the same card number and expiry date (rare, but possible in some scenarios), you can continue to use the existing digital version. However, please check your card details in Google Wallet to ensure everything is updated.
  • Open the Google Wallet app.
  • Select the old/expired card.
  • Tap the three-dot menu (or “More” option) and choose Remove Payment Method (or a similar option).
  • Add your new card by tapping Add to Wallet and following the prompts.

Google Wallet works only on smartwatches running Wear OS software.
